Jayne & Kelly | Wedding Day

Remember the scene in Annie Hall when Woody Allen says I lurve you?  Lurve is exaggerated love.  I lurve Jayne and Kelly.

I am so inspired by them as people, and their wedding was a candyland of visual treats.  Both talented architects, these two have such discerning style, and their good taste is warmed up and made personal by their sentimentality.  The beautiful things around them that day weren’t just beautiful things, they were personal, time-invested expressions of themselves and those they love.

It was an intimate gathering, so they were able to pay a lot of attention to detail.  The menu was extraordinary, and each course was paired with a carefully selected wine, Kelly and Jayne made a bunch of pillow by hand for the guests to sit on during the ceremony, there were ethereal white prayer flags hung everywhere, as a tribute to Kelly’s proposal in Tibet.  But as I say all the time, the things that stuck with me the most from this wedding were the tender moments between people that reflected the depth of their relationships.  Too many to name here, but I will share a few favorites in these pictures.

Kelly and Jayne made these really great signs pointing guests to all of the important places

This next photo brings up one of the most remarkable stories from the day.  Kelly’s grandfather was a dear friend of his.  Before he passed away, he gave both Kelly and his dad a buckeye, as he was always a believer that they brought good luck, and was known to carry them around in his pockets.  Buckeye trees aren’t very common around here, but in the weeks leading up to the wedding, Kelly and Jayne discovered that there was a buckeye tree right next to the barn and ceremony site.  Little did Kelly know, that Jayne had also had some cuff links custom made for Kelly as a wedding gift that were crafted from buckeye.  When he opened the card and gift, it was a very emotional moment for him and dad, remembering Grandpa.  Jewel captured the two moments below.

Weather was a main character in the day.  It was actually pretty stunning, although, poor Jayne and Kelly had to deal with the stress of on and off thunderstorms with the plan of an outdoor wedding.  Jewel’s photo below.

I remember this moment really well, all of the sudden the storms stopped and the sun came out.  Jayne looked out the window and this stream of light hit her face.

Jayne had a special cake made as a surprise to celebrate her parent’s upcoming 40th wedding anniversary

Jewel is becoming our expert at the long exposure scene setters.  The last few weddings, I will find her in a dark corner with a tripod and a timer, and she always comes up with something great!

This one was a collaboration between Jewel, me, and Jayne’s dad.  He got so excited about capturing the foggy scene, that he had the idea to turn on headlights to light up the corn.  Fun

instead of tossing the bouquet and garter, Jayne just handed one to her best friend and her boyfriend
