Nicole + Brian | Married | Short Film

    |    Posted by Brandon on November 14th, 2011    |    Film Life, wedding life

Few things are better in life than family and friends coming together for a celebration. Nicole and Brian were acutely aware of this when they planned their wedding. Their day was filled with spending time with friends and relaxing in the context of their wedding celebration. I truly felt lucky to be filming their wedding. Not only because they originally thought they didn’t need cinema for their day, but because I thrive on variety. A variety that Nicole and Brian gifted me with by allowing me to document their day.

If you know me, you know I love encountering new things on a wedding day. Nicole and Brian’s wedding came with three things I had never seen before: Nicole walked instead of rode between each of the venues (she and Brian are closely connected to their community in Kansas City’s Westside), their dog, Bristo, served as the ring bearer and the ceremony ended with a champagne toast. What stood out the most was how Nicole and Brian seemed to inhabit an island all their own once they laid eyes on one another. Completely in love, completely in the moment. Thank you Nicole and Brian for allowing me a glimpse into your connection with each other, your friends and family and your relationship to your community.. It was a wonderful experience.

This is really beautiful, Brandon. As always, i love the teeny tiny moments and snipets of beauty you catch. There was a brief moment when Brian and Nicole were walking to Westside Local and Brian stopped and pointed down at a raised part of the sidewalk so Nicole wouldn’t trip. The little things set people a part. You did a great job with expressing their adoration for one another. Nicole looked at Brian so tenderly and you can see her love for Brian in the look of her eyes. . . And dang, that dress is beyond beautiful.

Brandon,
I feel like you wrote a love letter about my friend. How fulfilling. Beautifully done.

Thank You both so much for your kind words. Nicole and Brian made it easy by just letting the day be an expression of themselves and what they value most in life.
