I have one vital piece of advice when planning your wedding: Let the right one in.
Your wedding day is a microcosm of everything you love built just for you, about you, and by you (with help from friends and family). It is so important when selecting your wedding vendors to let the right ones into that world. Those that match your vision closest will enhance your day. This is specially true for your wedding imagery. Your wedding film and photography will be looked back on for generations. Memories will be lost and created based on it.
Years ago Kaitlin contacted me to be an intern, when at the time we were not looking for one. We have been friends ever since. We have had so many conversations about weddings I cannot count. Conversations about photography and video, approach and design, about what a wedding should encompass and how I see them.
After a long and winding courtship, they arrived at their wedding day full of energy and excitement. Shooting Kaitlin and Sam’s wedding was a dream for me. We had that trust. They knew exactly how I worked when they hired me and gave me their trust that opened the door to the day. Their family and friends followed their lead. From the crazy dance floor to the flow of tears, they let me in to capture it all. But it was not enough to just give me access. They also trusted me to give those moments back to them in a way that was a perfect hybrid of my own artistic sensibilities and an honest telling of the day. A film about how the day felt and what it was like to be there on one of the most important days of their lives. It was an honor to be entrusted with this and I am so excited to share it with you. Without further adieu, Kaitlin and Sam’s short film:
